With so many stunning options to choose from, this location guide outlines the best Washington DC Engagement Photo Locations. 

There are so many different kinds of locations in DC to choose from for your engagement session! Each location has a different feel, background, level busy-ness, light, color and overall vibe. This makes it so hard for there to be a “best location”, because it depends on if you would rather be in a garden, in a museum, in a sentimental spot, etc. With so many stunning options to choose from, I wanted to put together this location guide for couples to help you find the best engagement photo location for you.
 
So for this blog post, I have divided best locations up into the following categories: Architectural and Historic/European Inspired Locations, Monumental/Iconic DC Locations, Urban/Chic Locations, Rooftops, Gardens, Cityscapes, and then a few unique out of the box locations. 
 
Each location has been thoughtfully chosen not only for its unique charm and suitability for creating beautiful memories but also for its fantastic natural light. The architecture in is way more than just buildings – it’s like taking a stroll through a history book. Each block is different. Being photographed in front of grand architecture like the Library of Congress, , , , adds a timeless, nostalgic feel to photos. It is a statement of a location, which makes for a statement in photos. Grand architecture also often upscales the grandeur of your photos. Something that’s great about these locations is that no matter what season, they will generally always look the same. 

The Meridian House

  Fees and Permits: $250/hour for Monday-Friday daytime (9:00 to 5:00), need to make appointment 

The Meridian House is known for weddings, and you can book the location for an engagement session too! It is a place of lush gardens, elegant architecture, and timeless charm. This is a great indoor and outdoor option.

DAR Constitution Hall 

Fees and Permits: No fee for outside, inside need to make appointment 

DAR is a great location for elegance and timeless charm. The steps and columns give the perfect DC historic look, without being monument specific. With its stunning architecture and rich backstory, this place brings a whole new level of grandeur to your shoot.

Library of Congress

Fees and Permits: No fee for outside, inside need to purchase entry tickets 

Photos at the Library of Congress also bring a level of grandeur and sophistication to your gallery. What’s great about the Library of Congress is that you can take photos both inside and outside. You just have to get tickets to enter inside.

Larz Anderson House 

 

Fees and Permits: $600 for 2 hours on weekdays, need to make appointment

Think lots of candids, grand archways and staircases. There are a lot of fun charming details in the interior, Union Station offers lots of creative freedom for creating memorable and dynamic images that reflect the vibrancy a busy city.

The National Cathedral 

Fees and Permits: No fee 

Taking engagement photos at the National Cathedral in DC is like stepping into a scene from a fairy tale.
